There are more than 25 Gilis (islands) surrounding Lombok. Gili Gede means ‘big island’ in the local Sasak language and is the largest Gili Island of Lombok. It is 1000 meters from the mainland of Lombok, approximately 28 km southwest of Mataram. – the capital of Lombok, and about 80 minutes from the international airport.

The island has limited electricity and sweet water. Gili Gede is an island almost free of traffic (there are a few dozen motorbikes on the island), and is only accessible by boat. It has a beautiful unspoilt nature, coconut palm trees, white sandy beaches, turquoise blue sea and a marvellous underwater world. The island has 5 small hamlets and can be circumnavigated by foot in about 4 to 5 hours. As yet, there are 5 mid-range / budget hotels on the island. There is one luxury resort on the island.

With its beautiful sea and nature, enchanting village life combined with relatively few tourists, Gili Gede is indeed the paradisiacal tropical island that many people imagine it to be. We have fallen in love with Gili Gede and are convinced that you will too.
